Reflections on Glass Roof

Yesterday was a post on looking upwards to the clouds formation.

Today, it is a downward angle.

Clouds Reflection on Glass Roof

This photo isn’t flipped. This is actually street level but that is the glass roof for the basement. The reflection of the clouds formation from yesterday’s post can seen on the glass roof as well as the flags post.

Glass is a great medium to photograph. Also good if the sun glare is too bright to point the camera directly at an object. Find a reflection surface instead that captures the object.

See you on the next post. I’m still on vacation!

Dawn Awakening and Dusk Reminiscent

What the heck does the title means? Bear with me….

On the way to Snowy Mountain, Australia

Dawn Awakening - on the way to Snowy Mountain, Australia

The first picture was taken on the way to the Snowy Mountain in Australia. August 1992 – that was how long it was. We met the driver of the van around 6.30am so this picture was taken around 7.30am. Sleepy as I was, I remembered the changing lights on the passing landscape. It was winter with mist surrounding the landscape – creating such a surreal world.

Dawn is the start of a brand new day – an awakening of sort. New hopes, resolutions and dreams.

The second picture was taken on 17 December 2010 in Singapore. I was waiting for the Christmas Light Up in Orchard Road to start at 7pm. Leaning against the railing outside ION Orchard, opposite is Wheelock Place, adjacent is Shaw Tower/House and the other opposite is CK Tang. Quite a strategic location.

I noticed that the sky was still blue and the surrounding lights made an interesting landscape. So I braced the camera against the railing and start shooting. I like the effect of the street light on the far left. Dusk hours can be so interesting, be it in a natural landscape setting or in the city.

Well dusk hours is the end of the day – a closure of sort.

Dawn – a new beginning. Dusk – a closure. Tomorrow a new cycle begins.

Yesterday, 1.1.11, was the start of the new year. As I type this, it is 7pm and dusk hours on Sunday – end of the day and week. A start and an end.

Till tomorrow, dream big dream large!

1.1.11

Good Morning! Happy New Year 2011!

There is a silver lining behind every dark clouds. Good Morning! Happy New Year 2011!

1.1.11

Nice numbers, eh? I just need an excuse to blog today. Heh.

As I am typing this, downstairs somewhere in the neighbourhood, drum beats echo in symphony and the revelry has just started….a wedding at the start of the new year. Lovely beginning I’ll say.

Plans for the year

Photography

First aim for the year is to get a new camera. Will be concentrating more on photography. Nature landscape will always be my first love. As I discovered, there are plenty of things to photograph in the city. But it needs a different level of skills and eye sight. Architecture and design photographs need crisp images. On the other hand, movements too are just as useful in photos. The plurist in me hate to see photographs where there are “blurry” people. That is until I learnt that “blurriness” are meant to depict movement and imply action. Okay.

Travel

It used to be if one wants to visit a big theme park, nearest place to go is either the 3 Worlds in Gold Coast, Australia or Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. We have Universal Studios right at home now. So this will be our first family vacation for the year. Where before I felt alright to travel alone, the drive to travel – no mather what obstacles stand in the way – is not quite blazing hot as it was. Maybe that travellust is gone….Nah!…it is still there just a wee bit muted is all. I still aim to return to Switzerland in the summer either this year or the next. Then, there was the recent news of budget travel to New Zealand. Such a temptation to visit year after year.

Well, it is good to plan but sometimes real life has a habit of making things muddy.

Hoping for the best!

Cheers to the New Year!
