Rain Drops on My Window

Rainy Days are good to sleep in.

Rain drops on my window

Well it rained all day on Sunday. So nice to sleep late and snuggle. When it comes to Monday, ack, what a chore to wake up. A chance to wear thick clothing, even wore my winter jacket to work.

About 10am today, peek through the window and wow. Rain clouds practically covered the roof of the surrounding buildings. Such low hanging clouds. Snap a picture from my camera phone. It couldn’t focus on the background but instead on the rain drops.

Have you ever play and dance in the rain? I want to, really.

Colorful Water Fountains at Sentosa

There are several water fountains at the Sentosa Resort World. Below is a slide show of the different colors of the water fountain.

Water fountains are fun and you can stand among the water fountains to take pictures. Just don’t step on the holes. That is where the water come from. This is a free outdoor attraction. You only need to pay the entrance fee to Sentosa. Walk at the Boardwalk from Vivocity. Tap your transitlink card at the entrance. Entrance fee is S$1 to the island. Turn right and climb up the stairs. Beautiful views of Vivocity in the background.

Have fun!

Sentosa Boardwalk Opening Celebration

Sentosa Boardwalk

Official Opening of the Sentosa Boardwalk

Sentosa

Today the Sentosa Boardwalk was officially opened.

To celebrate, from 5.30pm onwards, visitors get to visit the island for free. Only on 29 and 30 January 2011. A great day to spend Saturday night with friends and family.

It rained but the crowd still turned up. Catch the beautiful scenery of Sentosa, cable car, the cruise ships and Vivocity while walking. To seek shelter from the rain, use the covered walkway. Best of all, there are escalators. Yes, you lazy bum, you.

Along the walkway, beautiful flowers and shops to spend your money.

So if you are in the area, why not spend your Sunday here? Have a great time!

Mangoesteen and Orange Seats

sengkang park

Mangoesteen and Orange - Have a seat.

The picture explain the subject of the title. Have a seat.

The Sengkang Park had been opened for a while now. I finally made time to see it. Loved the seat structures! Interesting. There is a track for walking or cycling. I actually walked all the way here. Will try cycling next. It is less tiring. Will come by again to take better pictures.

A good place for some quiet and tranquility.

The Istana Park

Night view of the Istana Park

Let’s go to the Park!

The Istana Park is located opposite the Istana. If you walk from the Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station heading towards Orchard Road, you will notice the white gates of the Istana. The park is right opposite. Not many walk by this route. If you wish to avoid the crowd, this is a better way to the MRT station.

Further ahead this route leads to the Fort Canning Park. Have not managed to get photographs yet. The weather has not gone my way each time I pass by this way. Another time.

There are seats and quiet corners here. Did not take pictures then because people were seated there and did not seem nice to intrude.

Hope you take the time to enjoy the greenery in your area!

Take a Break at Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3

If you haven’t been to the Singapore Changi Airport for a long, long while, a lot of changes have taken place.

Terminal 1, 2, 3 & Budget Terminal

Notably, there are now three international terminals and in addition, there is also the Budget Airport. The Changi Airport is not just a place for travel or transit. It is also a place to study (yes, students come here to study for exams), relax, eat and shop.

By Bus

If taking bus here, the bus will first head to Terminal 3, then Terminal 1 and lastly Terminal 2. The bus stop for the Budget Terminal is on the main road. At each terminal, the bus will stop for a while for security inspection. Have patience. Currently, part of Terminal 1 is undergoing renovations so I didn’t take much pictures here. This is also the oldest terminal and due for some rejuvenation. Terminal 1 and 2 seem to be busiest as most airplanes land here. Hopping from terminal to terminal is easy due to the network of the Skytrain. Just follow the signs.

By Taxi and Trains

There is a taxi stand at every terminals. To save cost, you can always take the train or MRT as we call it  here.

Architecture

In terms of design and architecture, my favourite vote goes to Terminal 3. The open glass concept, from walls to ceiling, makes it look brighter and bigger. Looking down from the higher level, the viewing gallery is a great place for people watching. From the 4th level viewing gallery, watch the SQ airplanes land and takeoff. There is also an eating place and for fancier palate, go to Swensen. For more choices on eating, head to 3rd level or Basement 4 Foodcourt.

At Terminal 2, I adore the roof architecture! Watching the people go by, that itch to travel and explore start coming back.

I wish I am away now, heading off on a grand adventure!

Sunset over the City – Singapore

Sunset over Singapore - taken on the 12th floor of Orchard Central

Came back to the same scene because I wanted to capture the sunset.

A kind security guard informs me that on the 12th floor, viewing gallery, at the front of the restaurant is closed in the evening to the public and will re-open from 8.30 – 11pm. But the front end of the entrance of the gallery is still open and that is where I shoot the sunset.

Have a great day or evening!

View of Singapore Landscape from Orchard Central

View from the top of Orchard Central, Singapore

If you are in the Orchard Road area, take a break and go up the escalators at Orchard Central. Take in the view of the surroundings from the various viewing galleries.

Stop at Somerset MRT, turn right and there is Orchard Central. The escalators are right there in the walkway – no need to go inside the shopping mall.

The escalators stop at various levels. Enjoy the view and go up again. At the top, 12th storey, is a restaurant, mini garden and fountain. Snap away with the cameras. At the point of taking the pictures, storm clouds are brewing in the horizon so the pictures are a bit dark.

Have a great week ahead and see you on the next post!

Let’s Relax – Sengkang Sculpture Park

A park full of sculptures, fun and play

Sengkang Sculpture Park

Sengkang Sculpture Park

…This activity will not cost you a cent.

Instead of going shopping during the weekend, let’s do something that is not draining on your wallet. Let’s take a walk….to the park. A sculpture park specifically.

Ever been to the Sengkang Sculpture Park? No? Here are some pictures. You can walk from the Sengkang MRT to get here, then follow the LRT lines to Compassvale Street .

You can rest at the seats while the children have their fun at the playground. Relax, unwind and admire the various sculptures scattered about. Overhead the LRT buzz by. If feeling hungry or thirsty, there is a kopitium right there.

All in all, a wonderful place to hang around the neighbourhood.

Have a great weekend!
