Suspension Bridge at Punggol Waterway

Here’s a little focus on the suspension bridge at Punggol Waterway. This picture was posted earlier.

Suspension Bridge at Punggol Waterway

Yesterday there was no one guarding the entrance at both ends of the bridge so pedestrians and cyclists could pass through.

This is the view if going downwards towards the direction of Lorong Halus, Serangoon Reservoir. At about 10am, you will be facing the sun.

Glorious Blue Sky at Punggol Waterway

We had the most glorious blue sky yesterday. With the sun at my back, those clouds and the green landscape against the backdrop of blue sky painted such a pretty picture. Taken on the other viewpoint looking towards Punggol Reservoir. This was around 10am in the morning. If going in the evening, the sun will be facing this angle in the late afternoon.

Take a closer look at the gigantic cable wire at the entrance of the suspension bridge.

Crossing Over the Suspension Bridge at Punggol Waterway

Ready to cross over? Notice all the cable wires at each side of the red railing. I would not recommend jumping up and down while crossing this bridge. Very shaky. 😉

Punggol Waterway is not officially opened yet. It will be officially opened on 23 October 2011. Meanwhile people still walk, jog and cycle here while workers carry on with their works. Keep a look-out for lorries, cranes and heavy machineries if you are coming here to check out this place. Be safe.

Have a great start to a new workday!

Nature Walk in Pulau Ubin

Wooden Boardwalk

Before its discovery, Chek Jawa is one of Pulau Ubin’s best kept secret. This diverse wildlife and bountiful ecosystem was almost destroyed when the land was announced for reclamation in 1992. Luckily in 2000, this amazing wetland was revealed to the public. Nature lovers and the public joined voices in protesting the reclamation. Gladly we have a happy ending.

In July 1997, the boardwalk was opened to the public, making it easier to see the beautiful landscape even at high tide. It so happened when I was there yesterday, it was high tide. Beautiful nonetheless. There are guided tours here. Information can be found at the National Park Board website or ask at the Information Counter. Link is written below. There is also a list of the tide timing. At low tide, the secrets of Chek Jawa is best on display.

Click on Part 1 – Visit to Pulau Ubin – for information and a few tips. A little short of time today. Will have more pictures tomorrow.

Walking Trail at Changi Beach

It is colour version for today. A picture of the walking path along the Coastal Changi Beach Walking Trail.

I felt that Changi is one of the last estate in Singapore that still has that small village atmosphere and laidback vibe. No 30-storey HDB flats here and I would like that to remain so.

At the jetty, carry on walking on the left side. There is a narrow trail alongside the seashore. There is a wooden bench about 50 meters from the jetty and provide welcome respite from the heat. It also gives a great view of the landscape.

Walk a bit further and there is a bridge. After that there is a gazebo of sort where lots of guys spend time there fishing. Walk pass that and towards the marina.

It is a simple walking trail with great views. Very relaxing for tired minds.
