Here is a picture of the Merlion with a crescent moon lighting the night landscape. Not the eclipse. This was taken on 30 November 2011 at 8.48pm exactly. Hope those who were there at Fullerton Bay last saturday had a good time. Sometimes I forget how the city can look so pretty at night. No matter how I hate the hustle and bustle, not forgetting the noise and people pollution, there is beauty at night here. Let’s go out and play!

Marina Bay Singapore at Night
Tis the festive season and the night scenes everywhere here is aglow with lights and the mood is wonderfully festive. I caught the laser lights display from the Marina Bay Sands Resort but was too far away to get good pictures. Nice lasers show. Timing was about 8pm. Maybe a nightly event during December. Will come back again another day. Meanwhile, a picture of Marina Bay Sands with two boats at cross path.
Storm Clouds at Marina Bay
The cloud storms are spectacular to see. Mid afternoon seems to be the best time to see them with blue sky and all that fluffy clouds with dark hints of the approaching storm crowding the horizon. Last Sunday I took some snapshots at the beach. Today, I was at Marina Bay during lunch time. Amazingly, there was no rain today. Even the sunset was amazing to see with all that dark menacing clouds in one corner and at another corner, wispy bright white clouds seem to be dancing. I was in the bus so no photos of that scene. Here was the scene at Marina Bay this afternoon.
Buildings in CBD Singapore
Architecture of Modern Buildings in Singapore
Dig up more of the archive photos and see a few things I did not see before. It turns out some of the photos have the solar halo in them. It was a super, super hot and bright day on that Sunday in January 2011.
Taken along the Singapore River and Marina Bay area. Some of the buildings are still under construction in Marina Bay. One of these days, I will come back with the tripod, telephoto lens and photograph the dawn hours. Not so crowded then. These were taken at high noon – very high contrast lighting. I did the best I could at photo editing. Love those glass buildings and architecture.

Blue, blue sky on Sunday
Well, the sun shines brightly today and finally we have clear blue sky. In my earlier post of Marina Bay, the pictures did not turn up so good. Went out today to Fort Canning Park and walked all the way to Marina Bay. Lots of people.
If anyone plans to do a lot of walking in the hot sun, please remember to bring along a bottle of water and also get an isotonic drink to replace those fluids.
Happy shooting!

Not the very best picture, I know. Just want to show a photo taken from my camera phone yesterday. For any night shoot, I will highly recommend bringing along a tripod.
Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
This is a view of the Marina Bay Sands, a resort and casino hotel in Singapore, facing One Fullerton. Quite an architectural marvel designed by architect Moshe Safdie. Really love the boat-shape at the top. It is called the Sands Sky Park. Highest point of view in the area. Take note professional photographic or video equipment are not allowed. Nope – no tripod. So practice shooting with steady hands. I heard there is a chocolate bar there. Yum, yum.

10am – 10pm
Ticket Price:

– S$14 for children (aged between 2 – 12 years)

On the left side of the picture is the ArtScience Museum – the “The Welcoming Hand of Singapore”. The ArtScience Museum will open on Feb 17 at 1:18 p.m., “as advised by our feng shui master,” a Marina Bay Sands spokeswoman said. Source : The Edge Singapore. At the end of this post is a link to the news article.
Photo taken from the Merlion Park – a great place to grab photos of the Merlion, Esplanade – Theatre on the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands Singapore and skyscrapper buildings in the CBD. The night sky is magical with views of the flashing lights surrounding the area.
How to Get There
My suggestion : Take the MRT and alight at Raffles Place. Exit near UOB Building along Boay Quay. Take the time to take pictures because there are plenty to see. The Asian Civilisation Museum is across the river. Why not try the bumboats? Walk along the boardwalk and you will see Fullerton Hotel on your right. Along the way, the two bridges made interesting pictures. Cross the road and you will see One Fullerton and the Merlion Park is right there.
