Sale! Let’s Shop!

CNY - Year of the Rabbit

Window Display of Chinese New Year Sale - Paragon

A bit of a dramatic heading but this applies to today’s post. Yes, sale and shopping.

It seems that almost every weekend there is a sale going on. Shopping is such an enjoyable pastime and if you are not careful, a drain on the wallet. But hey, if you have to work hard, it is only fair to enjoy life too.

I see many ladies in high heels even during the weekends. But if you are going to troll from mall to mall, it is best to wear comfortable shoes.

There’s a saying “Shop, shop till you drop!”. Next post will not cost you a single cent.

Toa Payoh Celebrates Chinese New Year

Just three stops from Orchard MRT is Toa Payoh.

This was the first neighbourhood that HDB flats were built. Over the years, buildings have changed and upgrading have rejuvenated the lively estate. With the MRT located in the basement and the air-conditioned bus interchange on the first level, travel and infrastructure is a breeze. The atrium next to the bus interchange, facing the NTUC Fairprice, is a commercial hub. Usually during weekends, stalls set up their items for sale.

This weekend, the NTUC Fairprice is holding a Chinese New Year sale.

With the giant billboard screen, the Toa Payoh atrium is a good place to mingle with friends and family. If tired, you can sit on the steps. I find Toa Payoh Central very compact and easy for walking. There are at least six shops selling shoes, three shops competing side by side selling toiletries, a factory outlet selling casual clothes ranging from S$2 and many food stalls where meals can be bought under S$5.

To get away from the crowd, there is the Library. There is also the Toa Payoh Park opposite the Bus Interchange.

So if feeling tired of the crowd in Orchard Road and tourist places, this is a good place to mingle with the locals and grab things on a bargain.

Till next post, travel safe wherever you are!

Takashimaya Chinese New Year Sale

Sale at Ngee Ann City Shopping Mall

Takashimaya Chinese New Year Sale

I have more pictures of the Chinese New Year decorations around various malls along Orchard Road. Post for today – pictures taken at Takashimaya or Ngee Ann City Shopping Mall.

This time round, pictures were taken from my latest point and shoot camera. I think this camera takes better pictures than my DSLR.

It was lunch time so it wasn’t as jam pack. Lots of goodies on sale. I can’t read the chinese characters but if you do want to translate, go ahead. 😉

Can’t imagine how Chinatown will look during weekends. Crowded for sure. Will be heading around that area tomorrow. Maybe I will get more pictures later.

Till tomorrow, have fun during the weekends!
