Day and Night Landscapes at Serangoon Reservoir

03 Dec

Come here at Lorong Halus Wetland, Serangoon Reservoir, Punggol Promenade and Punggol Waterway at the right place and right time, you will see so many gorgeous sights and serenity that fills the heart and mind.

Sunny Day at Serangoon River

A wide angle panorama captured the scene during mid afternoon. Beautiful sky on that before the rain. The left frame shows a slight view of Punggol Promenade heading to the Nature Walk section. In the middle is the Serangoon East Dam. That greenery patch on the right frame is the forested area next to Lorong Halus Wetland. Unfortunately that area is marked for road building as a gateway to Pasir Ris. Not very happy about this.

Vertical Panorama of Serangoon Reservoir

The green plants in the foreground are the greenery at the foot of the Horse Shoe Bridge facing Serangoon Reservoir and Lorong Halus Wetland. Vertical panorama works well to emphasis perspective and highlight some area of the scene. I like low angle views because they show such a different dynamics as opposed to pictures taken at eye level.

The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk at Punggol Promenade

I like the Boardwalk because it shows the lower views of the surrounding scenery. In this scene, a group of cyclists were passing by. It is a great place to cycle here, at any time of day or night.

The night views are simply peaceful and gorgeous. Don’t leave after sunset just yet.

Dusk Landscape at Serangoon Reservoir/Punggol Promenade

Same location but taken at night this time, just after sunset. No need to use flash for night photography. Ambient light is sufficient. With the sun below the horizon, there is enough light to see the white puffy clouds passing by. Silence is much much appreciated while you are here. There are seats there at the top of the Horse Shoe Bridge. Watch the scene, talk later, empty your mind and just let peace roll in.

Punggol Waterway Sky View

Soft Focus Landscape at Punggol Waterway

This is more of a “creative” shot because of the soft focus. The view facing down Punggol Waterway but taken skywards. I wanted to emphasis the clouds. They were moving so fast at the time. Using an ND filter would have emphasized the clouds more I think but there is no filter for this LX5 camera.

Lorong Halus Red Bridge at Night

My favourite picture for the night. Tack sharp, no flash, not much noise artifacts. Twilight had set in by then. The  lights reflection from the bridge was enough to show off the surroundings and illuminate the white clouds above.

I hope you have the chance or make time to visit this place. It is a peaceful oasis among urban Singapore. Have a great weekend!
