Focus on Other Photographer’s and Illustrator’s Works
This is the first in a series where I will be posting a picture from other photographers and illustrators. This is the work of Neirfy. I want to write a bit of poetry and something about that image shouts out. The story behind that picture is written further down.
Plenty of times an image just speaks out, connects with something within us or provide inspiration to write or do something. We all have inspiration, dreams and goals. The road that life leads us are sometimes smooth but more often than not, lots of tribulation, forks in the road and things unexpected. Whatever that maybe, I hope you find within you that balance in life, where there is sadness, there is also joy.
Balance
Vast ocean, blue yonder
What is beyond I wonder
A hidden cove beckons
Untold treasure reckons
A balancing act
Not nature’s neglect
Fragile yet unbreakable
It is truly remarkable
Doubt can make it shaky
But please hold steady
When sadness takes hold
Remember laughter is gold
Balance
Background story on the picture
Now the story about that picture. Neirfy’s and her son were at the beach. After building towers of stones, her son demanded the scene to be photographed. As it was evening, with deep shadows from coastal rocks, the photos looked a bit dull. To salvage it, the towers of stones were clipped and then inserted in an ocean background. I thought it was done wonderfully.
To tie in with this blog’s theme of travel – Neirfy took this picture at a small beach near Puerto de la Cruz at Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Let’s find out more about this place, shall we?
Travel to Tenerife, Canary Islands, Puerto de la Cruz – Spain
Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands, an Atlantic territory of Spain, on the west coast of Africa. Tenerife is known for its beautiful coastline, beaches and its nightlife. It’s capital city is Santa Cruz de Tenerife – on the island’s northeastern coastline. The island is warm and has mild weather year-round. Two of the popular beaches in Puerto de la Cruz are Playa Martiánez and Playa Jardín. Other beaches includes smaller coves of Playa Muelle and Playa San Telmo. The beaches here features rocky coves, black volcanic sand, tropical gardens, cafes and sunny weather.
Things To Do
Sunbathing, surfing, scuba diving, jet-skiing, hiking, dining, shopping, whale watching or sightseeing. Or mountain climbing. El Teide is the highest mountain in Spain standing at 3718 m (12,198 ft).
Brief History
The Canary Islands are the ‘lost islands’ of Atlantis, an ancient legend claimed. In 10th century B.C., early settlers came from North Africans (also known as Phoenicians). During the 14th century, different European countries continuously invaded the Canary Islands. For almost 1000 years after that, the Canary Islands went unnoticed till Mediterranean boats stumbled upon it again.
This place sounds like a wonderful beach, summer and winter vacation spot. Anybody want to go on a vacation?
