I will focus today’s posting on the night entertainment during the Official Opening of Punggol Waterway yesterday, aptly called Punggol Waterway Fiesta.
The Ministers, MPs, HDB Management and others arrived by boat to the platform in the water at the Heartwave Wall, walked through the water curtains and proceeded to the Ceremony site. Before the evening highlights, Glen Ong was the MC for the afternoon and Vivian Tan took over in the evening.
After the minister’s speech and the pouring of water into the waterway, the celebration began! Pyrotechnics in front of the ceremony site. Crash! Boom! Lights!
Lasers at the Heartwave started dancing and the sky was lighted with white flying balloons. From the right, a boat came by. On it was a faery angel in white. I just dubbed this the “faery” boat. This was the very boat that I noticed on saturday’s recce and called it “cute”. It was pretty.
The lights turned to eerie red and then…..sounds of drums! Coming from the highest staircase. Rhythmic and colorful. Very nice.
And the grand finale started after this – fireworks! Two of the firework pictures were posted yesterday.
I will add more photos later as soon as this mush that passes for a brain starts thinking and concentrating. Good night for now. I am sleeping this fever away. Later tomorrow!

hihi, we enjoy ourselves, and the carnival mood was gorgeous.
Will definitely return to try out the water features and playground
Do you know where visitors can grab an online map for navigation, eg if not driving, which LRT/Mrt, walking distance etc.. Opening hours for water-play, fountains etc? (HDB website very little info)
I have link you up here –> http://sengkangbabies.blogspot.com/2011/10/punggol-waterway.html
cheers, andy
Thanks, Andy! Appreciate it. Love your photos
For directional map, I find this quite helpful :

Walking distance, estimates only. From Punggol MRT/LRT : about 5 – 10 mins walk to central section. From Punggol Road entrance to Punggol Reservoir : about 30 mins. From Lorong Halus Wetland/Serangoon Reservoir to Punggol Reservoir : about 1 hr. I am sure there will be lots of stops for photos, so take that into account too.
Wish I have the info on the opening hours for the water fountains. Cheers to you to
I love these photos. Just beautiful!
Thanks, Esmeowl12! I hope you are enjoying the “off-the-beaten-road” views of Singapore.
